Lifestyle Change to Raw, Organic Food

Angie Monko - Saturday, June 05, 2010
Dear Friends,

In these last 5 or 6 weeks, I've really grown to love my fruits and vegetables and all
manner of live foods.  It feels very refreshing to feed my body loving, live food.  And
the more I have done this, the closer I have felt to my authentic , spiritual self
(the good, bad and the ugly).  It has been a challenge to get my husband and two
daughters equally enthusiastic about eating this way.  They are starchy pasta, potatoes,
meat and chips kind of eaters.  They don't share my zest for healthy eating.

In fact, they say they put up with my quirks.  That last part hurt because I feel I've put
so much energy into influencing their health. I honestly think it's time to let it all go.
Let them make their own decisions.  Having said that, I love a good challenge!
I am determined to use my culinary skills to create awesome-tasting food for them.
So even if they won't eat 100% raw and I don't do that either, maybe they'll do 20%
raw and then maybe 30% and so forth. The last two weeks, I've invested in quality
kitchen equipment and added to my repertoire of a Vitamix and Athena alkaline
water machine by purchasing an Excalibur, 9 drawer dehydrator, Cuisinart food
processor and ice cream maker, Champion juicer, and plus a few extras, like a
spiral slicer, various cook books and wonder cup.

I've already begun experimenting with raw food recipes, and they've been impressed
with most of them.  I'm now set to begin experimenting and creating some culinary
delights.  I'm excited about this!  I've always loved to cook and eat, and now I can do
it with healthy food.  I even had the inspired idea to open a raw, organic restaurant in
St. Louis.  One day at a time.  You may recall that I've talked about opening a healing
center in St. Louis.  Well one of the parts of that was to have an organic deli & retail shop.

This part really excited me.  What better way to get to know my community than to open
a small restaurant.  Wish me luck and I welcome any feedback you might have about this.

Have a great weekend!  You'll be hearing more about this topic, I'm sure.
